Today's Favorites - Caulaincourt Adelaides

Photo Courtesy of: Les Belles Chaussures

I always love seeing something that I have never really seen before, and this model here by Caulaincourt represents just that for me. While the pattern is not really that unfamiliar, as I have seen something similar by Berluti, the combination between leathers (suede & calf) and colors (brown and what looks like gray) is simply amazing. I really have been loving suede more and more these days and constantly find it sad that it is very much underrepresented in the shoe industry. For example, when was the last time that you saw a shoe that was black suede? Yet, black suede (for me) is so beautiful, but no one wears it, and even worse no one makes it.....Therefore seeing these beauties gave me great pleasure.

Anyway, I am a bit tired today, busy and at a loss for clever phrases, so I will leave it at this and will hopefully have some more interesting verbiage tomorrow....

Best,

Justin, "The Shoe Snob"

  1. These are truly beautiful indeed. although personally I would have chosen either a less contrasting colour of stitching, or contrary to that an even more contrasting colour.

Still, a beautiful pair of shoes, to silently contemplate on a warm summer's night.

  2. I've seen a lot of similar shades of suede lately, described as "taupe" or "cappucino" or any number of other names, but basically a greyish colour with a hint of brown. Like chocolate that's been in the fridge.

Anyway, it's a lovely pair of shoes. What I can't take my eyes off, though, silly as it might seem, is the quality of the leather facings. That's what's really holding my attention - that lovely natural patina on a piece of leather that just screams "quality". I can smell it from here!

  3. Donald Pliner makes some really fun stuff in black suede...the newest one is accented with blue stitching, laces and rubber sole.
